Rupinder Kaur is a Birmingham born Panjabi poet who published her debut collection, Rooh,in 2018. Rooh is a poetic journey that transcends borders and arbitrary boundaries, her work straddles English and Punjabi culture. Her poems look at love, religion, identity, politics, history, taboos, society – often questioning orthodox views, particularly the expected gender roles.
For Rupinder, writing, along with any other art form, should be azaad – free: free to express what the artist wants or needs to say, without any censorship.
Nafeesa Hamid is a British Pakistani poet/ playwright now based in Birmingham. She is published in ‘The Things I Would Tell You: British Muslim Women Write’, a recent (2017) anthology, edited by Sabrina Mahfouz. She is alumni of Mouthy Poets and Derby Theatre Graduate Associate Artists and set up the monthly Derby open mic night, Twisted Tongues. Her debut poetry collection 'Besharam' has been published with VERVE Poetry Press (2018). Nafeesa was a finalist in the BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam 2018.
