Join us for an evening of music with renowned folk singer Lester Simpson. Lester is a choir leader, singer, songwriter and musician. Most widely known for his work with acclaimed a cappella trio ‘Coope Boyes and Simpson’.
For 25 years he has been writing a range of songs, the overtly political, environmental, lullabies, songs of the Great War, love songs. Mojo magazine described him as “an exceptional song writer”.
Lester will be supported by the Peace Through Folk Choir.
The evening will be opened by Sue MacFarlane. Sue is another excellent local musician who has actively campaigned for peace and a better world.
Armed conflict is the cause of many people having to flee their homes and seek refuge in a safe environment. Nobody chooses to leave their home, work, family and friends unless they are desperate. Refugees are fleeing from political persecution or wars. This money could be spent on more socially useful projects such as homes and renewable energy.
This is the second Derby Peace Concert and is supported by over a dozen local groups.
All profit will go to Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity.
