About the Event

A spectacular evening of classical music.

Tickets are now available to purchase on the gates only, subject to availability.

Enjoy one of the highlights of the summer as The Darley Park Concert returns for another spectacular evening of classical music and fireworks.

Back as part of The Darley Park Weekender, the firm favourite will be delighting crowds once again with a captivating performance of classical music, followed by a dazzling display of fireworks to round off the weekend. The theme for this year's concert is Music from the Movies. 

Sinfonia Viva will provide the stunning music in the beautiful surroundings of Darley Park, making it the perfect event for family and friends to enjoy together. Don’t forget to bring your picnic!

Sinfonia Viva music programme

Derby's very own orchestra, Sinfonia Viva, has been as the heart of The Darley Park Weekender for the past three decades, creating joyful and inspiring performances that make every visit a special memory. Last year, 2,738 children and young people took part in the orchestra's creative projects. Beyond Darley Park, they are about to start a new season of concerts and family events at Derby Cathedral and the Museum of Making.

Conductor: Timothy Redmond

Timothy Redmond is a regular guest conductor with the London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, co-founder of the international conducting masterclasses And Other Duties and is conductor and co-creator of the Royal Albert Hall’s My Great Orchestral Adventure™ concert series.

Soloist: Nicky Spence (Tenor)

Opera Singer Nicky Spence is an artist and broadcaster aiming to bring more people to classical music than ever before. Upcoming appearances include Peter Grimes (Welsh National Opera) and a return to Glyndebourne Festival and Royal Opera House to sing Boris Katya Kabanova and Laca Jenůfa respectively.

DJ Sapphire

Derby born DJ Sapphire has been DJing for 15 years. Her show on YouTube went viral in March 2023. She’s now the number one DJ specialising in Smooth Jazz in the World.

The Derby West Indian Community Association Steel Pans

The DWICA Steel Pans is a community-based group set up to bring steel band music to the city of Derby and further afield. They specialise in supporting carnivals, festivals, schools, and family celebrations also play for private and corporate functions where suitable.

DWICA Steel Pans can perform with anything between 2 and 8 players and will select the right size ensemble to match the occasion. We are led by Lionel McCalman former leader of Nostalgia Steelband and renown as a “godfather” of steel band music in the UK. Our performances are normally up to 2 hours in 20-30 minute sets but we can adjust to suit the mood and requirements of the day. The DWICA Steel Pans play a mixture of Reggae, Soca, and popular songs and will always strike the right note to bring the energy and joy of steel band music to your event.

University Hospitals Derby & Burton Choir

The UHDB Staff Wellbeing Choir was founded by Air Arts, as a way to support wellbeing for the Staff of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton during the Covid Pandemic. Led by Felicity Biacsi, they sing an eclectic mix of songs and the main aim is to have a great time whilst singing great music! Since forming they have had some brilliant performance opportunities, including performing in Lichfield Cathedral and Derby Cathedral, as well as releasing a Charity Single for Derby and Burton Hospital's Charity which was recorded with Derby Cathedral Choir and released on Spotify. They are so excited to perform at The Darley Park Concert and collaborate with Sing Viva!

Sing Viva

Sing Viva, Sinfonia Viva’s community choir, is dedicated to caregivers. They perform a diverse range of choral favourites and welcome sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses. They are delighted to be returning to the Darley Park stage. Please note under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Early bird prices until 31 Jul 2024 are £5 for adults and £2 for under 16s.

From 1 Aug 2024 to 31 Aug 2024 tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for under 16s.

On the day prices are £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.

What is the Wheelchair Viewing Platform? 

A raised platform with a prime view of the stage. It has ramped access and a charging point for power wheelchairs.
