About the Event

A spectacular evening of classical music returns for 2025.

Enjoy one of the highlights of the summer as The Darley Park Concert returns for another spectacular evening of classical music and fireworks.

Back as part of The Darley Park Weekender, this firm favourite will be delighting crowds once again with a captivating performance of classical music, followed by a display of fireworks to round off the weekend.

Sinfonia Viva will provide the stunning music in the beautiful surroundings of Darley Park, making it the perfect event for family and friends to enjoy together. Don’t forget to bring your picnic!

Sinfonia Viva music programme

Derby's very own orchestra, Sinfonia Viva, has been as the heart of The Darley Park Weekender for the past three decades, creating joyful and inspiring performances that make every visit a special memory.

Conducter: Stephen Bell

Stephen Bell is a highly sought-after British conductor, currently Principal Guest Conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Associate Conductor of the Hallé. Praised for his diverse repertoire, he boasts extensive discography, BBC broadcasting, and career highlights including Queen's Jubilee, Prince Charles galas, and numerous BBC Proms. He frequently conducts major orchestras internationally.

Soloist: Juliette Crosbie

Juliette has recently been busy with a number of exciting film and television projects. She filmed the role of Penny in the feature film Everybody Digs Bill Evans, starring alongside Anders Danielson Lie. She also played Belle opposite John Simm in Jack Thorne's production of A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic Theatre in London. In addition to her acting work, Juliette regularly performs with the RTE Concert Orchestra. She recently celebrated 100 Years of Disney Music with them and performed alongside West End star John-Owen Jones for their New Year's Eve Gala. This year, she also sang with Mike and The Mechanics' star Tom Howar on the RTE Concert Orchestra's Movies and Musicals Tour.

Getting here

We encourage eco-friendly and active travel options like walking, cycling or using public transport where possible.

The main event entrance is by the river footpath, with signs in the park to guide you.

If you are coming by taxi there is a drop off/pick up point at Parker’s Piece Car Park (101 City Rd, Little Chester, Derby DE1 3RP). This is a 13 minute, 0.6mile walk to the event entrance and therefore may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Parking

A bike parking area is located outside the event entrance (bikes left at your own risk).
Limited pre-booked car parking is available at Deans Field for £10 per car (accessible via Darley Street).
Off-site parking options are also available at Chapel Street, Darwin Place and other city centre car parks
Blue Badge holders can park at the Darley Street car park, Poplar Row, Darley Abbey, Derby DE22 1DU (pre-bookable when purchasing tickets for the Accessible Viewing Area or Wheelchair Viewing Platform). Visit The Darley Park Weekender Access page for information on the accessible entrance.

Entry and security

The on-site box office, located near the entrance, allows collection of pre-purchased tickets and purchases on the day (subject to availability).

Last entry for the event will be 9pm on Friday and Saturday and 8:30pm on Sunday.

Please arrive early to ensure enough time to go through the search points. Please read further down to see what can and cannot be brought into the events. Security will search you and your bag upon entry, including the use of search wands. You could also be searched once you are in the event.

Security personnel will be present both inside and outside the event for your safety. CCTV cameras will be in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. We collaborate closely with police and emergency services for a secure event. There will be police patrols around the event and local area. If you see something that doesn’t look right, let a member of security or the police know straight away.

What you can bring to the event

Only assistance and guide dogs are allowed
One small bag per person (maximum size: 45cm x 25cm x 20cm)
One camping chair or blanket per person for seating
Prams or pushchairs for small children & babies are allowed, as are wheelchairs and specialised pushchairs or mobility aids for older children and individuals with additional needs. We are committed to ensuring accessibility for all attendees. Food & drink
Food and drink (including alcohol) will be available to buy at the events - card and cash payments are accepted.

Within the permitted bag size (45cm x 25cm x 20cm), for personal consumption, you can bring:
- food
- sealed soft drink and water non-glass bottles/cartons (up to 500ml)
- empty plastic/metal bottles/flasks (up to 1L) for refilling at free cold and hot water stations
- alcohol, only as follows:
  - Friday or Saturday – no alcohol can be brought into the events
  - Sunday – limited alcohol allowed into the event:
    - four unopened cans of beer/cider/wine/premixed spirits per adult
      OR
    - sealed plastic bottle(s) of wine/prosecco/champagne - up to 75cl per adult
  - Children under 18 cannot bring alcohol.
  - Challenge 25 is in effect. Be prepared to show a valid photo ID (passport, driving license, or PASS ID) at the entrances and inside the event when purchasing or drinking alcohol.
- No glass items permitted, including glass bottles and drinking glasses.
- If you need to bring unsealed baby milk/formula please contact us ahead of the event or for late/on the day bookers, on arrival at the event

You cannot bring any of the following to the event

Glass or ceramic items (including bottles, glasses, cups, jars, etc)
Knives or cutlery (except wooden and plastic)
Trolleys, hampers or cool boxes (cool bags are allowed within the specified bag size limits: 45cm x 25cm x 20cm). A trolley park area is located outside the event entrance (trolleys left at your own risk).
Barbecues (including disposable barbeques and camping stoves)
Medication, unless recognisable or accompanied by a doctor’s note or prescription.
Flags, flag poles, large umbrellas (1 metre or more), selfie stick
Shelters (tents, gazebos), kites and tables
Bikes cannot be brought into the event area – a bike parking area is located outside the event entrance (bikes left at your own risk).
Flammable items (flaming torches, fireworks, candles, lanterns, etc).
Generators, spray cans, aerosols, smoke or gas devices/canisters/cylinders.
Sound systems, megaphones or air-horns.
Weapons, dangerous items or lasers.
Unidentifiable substances or illegal drugs.
Aerial vehicles/devices (drones).
Zoom lenses or professional filming equipment.
Unauthorised merchandise, including any goods using unauthorised event logos or unofficial tabards, unauthorised reflective jackets.

Any items left at entrances or confiscated will be disposed of and cannot be returned upon exiting the site.

the event will not be cancelled unless there's a health and safety risk.

Additional, terms and conditions for this event:

No re-admission once you leave the event.
For safety reasons, and to ensure the comfort of those attending the event, the management reserves the right to reduce the overall footprint of your chosen seating area.
Darley Park is open to the public except for the event area.
